An example of SRG’s Community Projects
SOUTHWEST COMMUNITY CENTER
More than 10,000 meals a month will be served by this new Santa Ana community center whose development and construction was directed by SARES•REGIS Group. The Southwest Community Center – a 40-year neighborhood fixture – was destroyed by fire in 2009. The new building is 4,724 square feet, which is four times larger than the original building. It includes a modern restaurant-grade kitchen and spacious dining, meeting and storage areas.
LOGAN STREET PROJECT
Dozens of at-risk young men learned valuable skills in the construction trades from SARES•REGIS Group while building three single-family homes for low-income families in a long-settled Santa Ana neighborhood. SRG worked closely with developer/builder Orange County Community Housing Corporation and the Sisters of St. Joseph Orange’s Taller San Jose, a social service organization, which was responsible for the overall project.
SRG working with Rebuilding Together, ventured into uncharted territory directing a two-year volunteer effort to revitalize a city park that concluded with building an 80-foot-long play pirate ship, complete with cannons, a crow's nest and rope ladders. The project involved more than 20 subcontractors and volunteers. One day about 250 volunteer workers descended on the site for the extreme makeover and inlcuded architects, landscape architects, civil engineers, structural engineers and an array of consultants used in development projects and they all donated their time.
